As I write this, my mind feels completely numb. The newspaper today has carried a story of three murder cases in city on a single day. The details of these barbarian acts are chilling. These are not the cases of despicable common murders that get published in newspaper. The victims of these crimes are brutally massacred by their own family members!
1) A three year old girl is strangulated by her father. The father, is trying to put the blame of the murder on his wife.
2) A physiotherapist, has murdered his own wife and three year old daughter and then hanged himself.
3) A man, when denied money for drink, has slit his wife's throat, stabbed his mother in law five times who succumbed to death, while his wife miraculously survived!
What is happening around us really ? There are increasing number of crimes within family and it is alarming ! The socio-economic changes are becoming rapid, leaving serious impact on family dynamics. The pressure is more visible in big cities and it is very much present across all the categories and class. There is huge discrepancy between the "traditional " family environment and the transformation brought by society of consumerism, one lives in today. It is obvious that there are many reasons like stress, socio-economic factors,education, mental health and some other aspects responsible for such crimes. However, my concern is, role of "family", the very foundation of society which seems to be diluting.
The cases mentioned above are very rare occurrences but they certainly reflect where we, as society are headed to! The " quintessential institution " called family, is starting to weaken and sometimes people are left with sheer helplessness and inadequacy. We can have endless scholarly debate over why such crimes happen but I"m not interested in that.
I just can't imagine plight of the victims while being mercilessly slaughtered by their own loved ones!!! Would they have been more hurt due to physical torture or the shock of deceit ? Can we detach ourselves from these acts of grusome murders and behave as if nothing's d happened around us since it doesn't directly affect us? The disturbing question that haunts me is, if the family fails to play the role of great support system where does a person go ?
I am terribly traumatized and badly need a hug !!!

What happens around me in my microcosm permeates deeply in my body, mind and spirit. It takes me through various human emotions that resonate in many people around me! It is incredible experience to know, share ,interact with people from diverse backgrounds and have glimpse of my own self in them sometimes. I realize, it is high time I connect on a bigger platform and widen my horizon . Join me in this new journey of mine, that I call "Rendezvous with life " !!!
